Site 3 coLaboratory and the Treehouse Group are excited to play host at Toronto's first-ever Mini Maker Faire, to be held in conjunction with Science Rendezvous at the Evergreen Brick Works, a high-profile and community-focused environmental/heritage centre.

The event will include commercial and non-commercial Makers, independent designers, hackerspaces, workshops, demos and speakers, and all kinds of amazing creative interactions.  Visitors will have many opportunities to take home a part of the experience when they  participate in the workshops on offer.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Tickets will also be available on a cash-only basis at the event itself.
  • Earlier today (Saturday) the cash machine stopped working, so just in case it isn't up and running during the weekend please make sure you have enough money to buy whatever you'll need (food, gifts, etc.)

What is a Maker Faire??

"Maker" refers to hobbyists and professionals, from hackers to crafters, who are dedicated to the act of creation. It is a culture built on do-it-yourself (DIY) values. Maker Faires and Mini Maker Faires present opportunities for Makers to compare notes, spark ideas for new projects and expand collaboration.

The Maker Faire movement started in 2006 and has since spread across the US, over to Great Britain and Africa, and to Canada. One Mini Maker Faire has already been held in Ottawa, and another is planned for Vancouver in June 2011.

Button-making with kids, a robot made of scrap materials, embroidered Charley Harper, and a fire display.
